Voss no peak helmet padding thickness?
I'm looking for a "thin" padded DOT helmet. I prefer a novelty helmet, but our great state of WV has started to enforce the DOT helmets. Therefore, I have to be legal to keep from getting a ticket and my bike towed, I have seen the Voss no peak online, but it doesn't give specs. I like the Daytona but It doesn't fit well. Any other suggestions are welcome. I'm not asking if you agree with my choice of a THIN barely legal helmet, I'm asking if anyone knows which helmet is really the "smallest". I live in America, where I feel we should have freedom of choice, but those in power prefer us to live in their dictatorship, while calling it a democracy. I don't remember EVERY seeing a vote for helmet laws on our ballot. That backs my statement about it being a dictatorship. AND its all for money, The Federal government withholds BIG money from the states that do not have a helmet law. Most of the states that don't have those laws make up for the lost revenue through tourism, but our wonderful state would rather keep out the riders, and bow to the almighty Federal Government that is here to help us. Sorry for the rant but that's the way I feel. The DOT sticker on the back doesn't work here. The police have the right to ask you to remove the helmet and look inside. They also have a way of testing the helmets. This came from a good friend that is a state trooper. He has always worn a novelty until this year. I too have been on a rescue squad for 21 years. The only major injuries or deaths that we have responded to are those that had on full face DOT / SNELL helmets. I don't know of ANY deaths or major injuries in our entire county, where the rider had on a non DOT brain bucket. The major injuries were broken necks from the added weight of a full face helmet. I have found out that the daytona has 1" of padding, and the vega xts naked has 5/8". BOTH are DOT approved. It looks like I will be purchasing the vega.
